Beaujour served as the French consul of Thessalonica from 1787-1797 and was in a privileged role to research the commercial activities of the different regions of Greece. Included in the survey are such cash crops as the tobacco of Macedonia, the grains of Thessaly, and the currants of Corinth. Finished products include Turkish rugs, Greek shirts, and hoods from Zagora. The second volume focuses on imported goods as well as the trade relations with other countries, such as England, Germany, and Russia. 8vo (20.5 x 13cm), 2 vols., 331pp.; 333pp, [i]. Half-titles present. Browning and light foxing throughout, first couple leaves and last couple leaves with strong browning on margins. Bound in contemporary tree calf with morocco labels.
