The painting on the home page of our website was chosen to represent what we strive to bring together in the operations of our business - harmony, intellectual stimulation, love for the humanities, and beauty. The oil painting currently hangs on the wall of the local art museum here in the Twin Cities - the Minneapolis Institute of Art - and is a beautiful image of the nobility and grace of the Renaissance, a period of artistic, religious, literary, and scientific flowering.
Painted by the famous painter and biographer, Giorgio Vasari (1511-1574) in the year 1544, it depicts the poets Guittone d'Arezzo, Cino da Pistoia, Francesco Petrarch, Guido Cavalcanti, Dante Alighieri, and Giovanni Boccaccio. The various objects on the table represent various disciplines - the Globe - Geography, the Sextant - Astronomy, the Inkwell, Humane Letters and Poetry. And notice all the books! Books have been used in fine art for millennia to represent those qualities of the human mind that are most profound. We are grateful to be able to carry on this tradition with our business.
